The scene you’re talking about- with the notification- reminds me a lot of The Messanger (which- if you haven’t seen it- comes highly recommended from me BTW). I know what you mean about freaking yourself out with certain scene: I rewrote a scene that I’d shied away from the first time, but while the second scene was horrible for me to work through I felt it came out much stronger in the end. It’s not overly graphic, and most of it’s dealt with in subtext, but it was still a bit of a trial. All that being said- and while I appreciate that readers have varying limitations- I generally think a work is stronger for ‘going there’ (so long as it doesn’t tip into gratuitous).

I think I’m going to print this: “There is no skirting around allowed, nor slipping outside the door” and tape it to my computer!

Aww, thanks Although this list format makes me look way more productive than I actually am. Much more plodding has occurred than anything else… but the good thing for both of us is that if we just keep plodding, we’ll eventually get somewhere.
