I'm a new writer of science fiction and adventure tales. I also make occasional forays into fantasy and realistic fiction. I love post-apocalyptic settings, utopias and dystopias, coming-of-age stories, and stories about underdogs struggling against the machine.

About Me

An avid reader since childhood, I was introduced to science fiction when my parents gave me Asimov’s The Caves of Steel and The Gods Themselves. Science fiction remains the genre that speaks to me most strongly. My writing has also been influenced by my “overseas” upbringing, and by my longtime participation in punk and underground music and culture.

I was born in Washington, DC, USA and spent my childhood in Korea, the Phillipines, and Taiwan. When my father retired from the U.S. Foreign Service, we returned to his home state of Hawaii, where I completed high school. Since then, I’ve lived in Massachusetts, Washington and Wisconsin. I now reside in Chicago with my spouse and two cats. When I’m not writing, I can be found playing drums with my band, 97-SHIKI.
